The Berlin Blog – Water, Water, Water
For some Berlin residents, their water bill will be going up around 60% this year. The key word here is “some.” As Berlin residents are all too aware, for some reason, Berlin – a town of 19,000 – has 3 water commissions. And apparently no one knows how we ended up with this ridiculous situation or how we can get out of it.
Connecticut’s Smallest City (Derby) – Middle School Passes:
Though results are not official until certified, it appears as though voters have approved the construction of a new $28,000,000 grade 6 through 8 Middle School by a margin of 84 votes with the tally showing slightly over 52% of those voting favoring question 1.
The Glastonbury Connection – A Tale of Two Sandwich Shops
Two sandwich shops, literally a hop, skip, and jump from each other. So why is Panera full and Semolina empty?
Right of Middle (Middletown) – Tom Hayden Stopped By the Other Day…
Wow, how did I miss that event. Tom Hayden lecturing at Wesleyan, Thursday March 1. Reading the Wesleyan Argus account of his visit one notices a total ignorance of this man’s influence on student radicalism starting in 1962…

NEW! Elm City Blog (New Haven) – Wanted: Community Bloggers!
I forget what the project was, but once in the mid-90’s I went down to the Elm Street Public Library to do some research on a 1970’s New Haven issue. When holding in my hands a newspaper from that era, what I quickly noted was the incredible richness of that decade’s Register, and its quantity of community reporting! The 70’s Register was actually an inch thick, rich with local profiles, and community news.Sadly, following the 1980’s corporate purchase of our local paper, everything changed.
New London Calling – Victory….and Defeat
[I]t remains difficult to accept that my side won an election by 22-23 points, and still lost. Getting your brains beat in on election day is actually enjoyable compared to this.Yesterday’s result was the worst possible outcome for the city.
The Norwalk Blog – Tell Me Why I Voted For Shays
I might as well have voted for Republican Congressman Shays’ Democratic opponent. At least I would have expected Diane Farrell to vote with the Democrats on 13 of 16 major votes in the new Congress.
Waterford Political Blog – Budget Hearing to Follow Regular Meeting Mar 14 2007
Increase for Board of Assessment Appeals is due to FY2008 being a revaluation year. The Utility Commission is low because it gets most of its funding from a business enterprise fund based on sewer fees. Since these budgets follow a regular BOF meeting it will be a long night for the BOF.

Windsor Locks, CT – First Selectman votes himself a nice Raise!
A $15,000 ++ raise after being on the job for a year and a half. It must be nice to sit in the majority for the Board of Selectman.

Nice showcase here for the locals; it’s great to see new ones popping up!
I agree steadyjohn. It’s great to see how quickly Townblogs have taken off.
I sent an email, but I’m not sure who reads those. I noticed that there is a Hartford blog, yet nothing has been posted yet. If it’s been abandoned, I’d gladly take it up.
