Danbury’s BurningThe NO News-Times

It is frustrating that no one has stepped up to start another paper or improve the one we have. I have to believe that the citizens of Danbury want a better newspaper.I know they deserve a better newspaper. Many industry studies have shown newspapers are under spending in the newsroom and over spending in circulation and advertising. Pretty soon the news product becomes so bad that the paper begins to lose money. I don’t know if this is the case at the Newstimes but the empirical evidence would suggest it.

Real HartfordOne Activist Arrested Downtown on Sketchy Charges

A war protester was apparently arrested for stepping into a snowbank following the protest at the Old State House this afternoon. “Nick” is being processed at the Jennings Street station. His supporters had planned to walk the distance, from downtown to the station.

Accounts given by passersby varied extremely. The Fox 61 reporter made it out that the arrest was fully deserved, while others made it sound like a fascist action. A follow-up will be posted if any reliable details emerge.

Hartford Communities That CareIs youth development worth 1% of the City’s General Budget?

This could potentially be a $5 million dollars toward results orientated youth programs. Based on the City of Hartford Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2005-2006 of $496,896,854. This 1.0% represents an allocation of $4,968,968.50.

New Britain TownBlogNew Britain State of the City

We need a mayor who can bring good jobs to the city. Don’t get me wrong, the new garbage cans are very nice. And in the event that we don’t get more jobs here, at least they’re big enough to sleep in.

Windsor LocksLocal educational officials presented a program on how to increase parental involvement in schools

For 20 parents to show up at this event is a slap in the face to every teacher, administrator, board member and everyone else involved with our schools. Parents treat school as a daycare and nothing more.

Stop blaming the teachers and start blaming yourselves parents. If you want your children to do better start going to meetings, join the PTA, go to these events and help out.

I was at that O’Rourkes event in Middletown on Saturday – certainly the most worthwhile fundraiser I’ve attended in years. Blumenthal was there chatting up the crowd… and stayed for a while.

Blumenthal has been making the rounds. He’s made an appearance at practically every Dem event I’ve been to this year.

“Blumenthal has been making the rounds.”

Blumenthal has been EVERYWHERE for a very long time… it hardly means that he’s running for Governor. Speculation about him running has been going on longer than you’ve been around.

True enough, RealityBites, but maybe he’s serious. It isn’t just Rennie who has been saying he’s for real this time.

Then again, I’ll believe it when I see it.
