My Left Nutmeg has posted part one of a three part look into GOTV efforts for Lieberman in Bridgeport. Politics sure does make for strange bedfellows, or maybe Bridgeport does.
What else is going on?

I wanted to make sure Toucan had read this story.

I was never “bashing the US military” as you accused me of but just pointing out that there are only so many Generals who will take command of a mission that is not worthy of the men they lead.
This story shows Patraeus may be one of the last of those.
I don’t remember using those exact words ctkeith but either way the “czar” job is a political position – not military chain of command – that probably would not even require Senate approval . It was actually proposed in similar form by Lieberman last fall when he talked about a war cabinet or something. It’s a dumb proposal; pure politics – the czar can’t give orders therefor he/she can’t take them from the CiC. I wasn’t surprised when I read earlier – and your link to – that nobody wanted it. I have tried to explain to you how the military culture and the Pentagon view civilian leadership but I haven’t gotten through and I probably never will. Most Generals are doves when you get right down to it but none of them are afraid of doing what they are leaglly ordered to do. I give credit to Petraeus for taking the job becasue he knew from the outset he had an uphill battle not only for his mission in Iraq but for himself career wise too. I am hoping for success on both counts where the odds are against it.
A look at the Green Party’s gubernatorial campaign up close:
Right now on http://www.Current.tv, “To Be Green,” a short documentary videographer Dave Pond made of the Thornton for Governor campaign and its efforts to get in the televised debates is ranked number one nationally, and if we can maintain that number one ranking until Monday evening, then the video will be aired on national tv. About 5,100 people have already watched.
Watch, register and vote for Cliff. For democracy. (plus, it’s good practice for November). Thanks for your help (and allowing me to do a shameless promotional plug for this – I am featured in the movie, as is Cliff, Ralph Nader and Jodi Rell’s campaign manager Kevin “No Comment” Deneen).
Peace,
KK

Weirdness in West Hartford. A former Republican turned independent is resigning from the town council and there is debate about who can replace her.
I wonder if any of the CFLers who voted Prof. Orman in as chairman and Jon Kantrowitz as vice chair is from W. Hartford.
If Not the Dems in W. Hartford could just get whomever they want to register CFL and the problems OVER.
