STEP 1: John Edwards gets an expensive haircut.
STEP 2: A reporter asks a dumb question of Chris Dodd about how expensive his haircuts might be, during the same event where it is widely whispered in the halls that Dodd’s campaign has spent upwards of $200 on makeup. Gasp.
STEP 3: A snit is had, and it’s generally agreed that the media stinks because they focus way too much on meaningless stuff like how much a haircut costs. Can’t the poor candidates catch a break?
STEP 4: The Dodd campaign invites a photographer and a reporter to document the candidate getting a $12 haircut in New Hampshire.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

In order to show that your absolutely captive of the MSM make this your front page story on your blog.
With all thats going on in the real world this is the beast you could come up with this morning?
Keith,
It actually depressed me so much that I had to write about it. Candidates and media are both complicit in this sort of focus on non-stories… and I guess we’re part of that, too. Oh, well. The day is young.
Maybe tonight’s debate will allow for some substance from the presidential candidates. Lieberman wrote an excellent article today. It’ll be interesting to see if any of the presidential candidates this evening have similarly substantive comments.
that’s funny, good for Dodd, at least he’s goofing on the whole situation.
But a $12 haircut??? That’s a little cheap!!!
Nutmeg,
One year ago Joe Lieberman was on the Senate Floor with his hands in the air Proclaiming “WE”RE WINNING”.Those are the exact words he ended his floor speech with. Lieberman is a shell of a man today who every serious person laughs at when they see.
The American people know George W Bush took the best and most expensive military in the world and lost a war any other Commander in Cheif would have won in one year. It’s over.

“The American people know George W Bush took the best and most expensive military in the world and lost a war any other Commander in Cheif would have won in one year. It’s over.”
Oh Keith, you want it both ways again. Haven’t you said that you were against Iraq from the very beginning and that you could see this coming from a mile away. That seems to me to say that you thought no Commander and Chief could have won this.
I was against this war from the beginning and I was Correct on WMD(Remember there were none),on Saddam NOT having links to Al-quiada , on Iraq Not being an immenent danger to anyone and on every other aspect of this war. I’m happy your finally admitting that I was right and you were wrong on everything over the last 6 yrs though.
Now,Once we went in any sane President would have gotten out very quickly WITHOUT being a mad social scientist and trying to install a Jeffersonian Democracy in a broken country. You Nutty Right wing idiot Neocons didn’t even know the difference between a Sunni and a shia and your fantasies have now cost this country a trillion dollars, over 3000 dead american kids and our position as the Moral leader of the world.
You happy yet?
Yes, I’m sure they had no idea about the difference between Sunni and Shia, good call. It’s also nice to know that your clairvoyance was superior to U.S., British, French and Russian intelli-gence about WMD. If only you were running the CIA you could have warned us all. Say the war has been mismanaged all you like, fine. But don’t pretend that if only someone else was in the White House everything would be just fine.
Any sane President would have gotten out very quickly?
Eisenhower, Johnson, Kennedy, Nixon?? – Vietnam
Truman – Korea
“Trying to install a Jeffersonian Democracy in a broken country”
Looks like it worked in Japan & Germany
Back to Rule #1 “Nutty Right wing idiot neocons”?
John Kerry stated in 2003, “If you do not believe Saddam Hussein is a threat with his WMD’s, then do not vote for me”.
Isn’t John Kerry on the Intelligence Committee, so he see’s the same intelligence that GW would see? Hmmm
Ironmike,
How are those Jeffersonian Democracies doing in North Korea and Vietnam?
By the Way,
Japan and Germany were defeated and we used their defeated military to control those countries unlike the idiot Neocons who FIRED the entire Iraqi Army and today make up a huge part of the insurgency.
I didn’t vote for Kerry in the Primary.
If your point is that Kerry was stupid enough to believe the obvious lies the Bush adminstration was putting out as intel I’ll agree he was.
These comments have nothing to do with Chris Dodd’s very nice and inexpensive haircut.
These comments are also starting to get out of hand. Please try to make your points without being jerks to one another, or leave.
Anybody remember the concept of trust but verify, which means don’t trust until you see it? Hans Blix was back in the country just before the 2003 invasion — because madman Hussein didn’t want a war with the US but at the same time he wanted his neighbors to beleive he could go to war against them so he screwed with the inspectors just a little. When Karl Rove and Cheney saw that Blix was probably going to declare Irtaq clean of WMD’s they ordered Bush to get Blix out so the US could invade.
sorry, Genghis, I didn’t have naything to say about Dood’s ….do!!!!
Everyone on the right wing is a neocon? LOL, only in keith’s fantasyland.
Does anyone remember Clinton holding things up on the tarmac at LAX when he was getting his coif done?
Genghis, sorry, but we knew you were depressed talking about Dodd’s mop. We were only trying to help. Sorry
One more for you Keith, by the way is Michael Savage running for President?
“One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.”
– President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
– President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
“We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction.”
– Madeline Albright, Feb 1, 1998
“He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.”
– Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998
“[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.”
Letter to President Clinton.
– (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, Oct. 9, 1998
“Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.”
– Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998
and that’s (#19) why we needed Blix to see what was really going on. they screwed up by pulling the trigger on Iraq too soon. thanx Iron Mike.
Like it or not Archie the Neocons control the foreign policy of your president and your Party.
Heres where we are now,
I believe we have 2 choices
1) we get out of Iraq within a year. The consequences may be horrible or may not but continueing the current course will destroy our military and eventually our economy.
2) The country must agree to put al least 500,000 US troops in Iraq for the next 5 yrs. This means a Draft and raising Taxes to pay the 2 to 3 trillion we’ll need to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.
Even with all that our chances of success will be about 50/50.
Unfortunately W and Cheney are true Chickenhawks and are perfectly willing to spend 2 billion a week and 20 or so dead kids a week and hope Rove can save their sorry asses .True to form not one of the Republican candidates for President will dare speak this obvious truth.
Actually ctkeith, there are 25 GOP US Senators to the right of your party’s biggest neocon cheerleader – Joe Lieberfool.
Toucan,
Joe Lieberfool is NOT a member of the Democratic Party. We dismissed him in a primary.I’m very proud of my small part in that effort
I am very proud of my small effort to not elect Lamont.
Liberfool absolutley is a registered Democrat, has been and always will be. He formed the CFL party but never became a member – just ask Professor Ormann. He petitioned to get onto the ballot with the help of Susan B. and with the help of big labor, Jim Ammann, Bill Finch, Dan Malloy and quite a few other D’s got re-elected -as a Democrat.
I love you all but I think you’ve all missed the point.
Ken Dixon asked Dodd at the JJB about his haircut (see previous thread).
In order to “put to rest” any speculation that Dodd is removed from “the common man” — because you never know how far Dixon’s inane question may travel (heck, it might even end up being the focus of a blog thread somewhere!) — Dodd HAS TO invite the media to his $12 haircut to PROVE he doesn’t care about haircuts!
And so the stupid question is rewarded…
