Rodgerson Profile

Fairfield County Weekly has a lengthy profile on Keith Rodgerson.

Say hello to Keith Rodgerson, a short man with tall ideas; a refreshing beam of light in a stagnant political city. Rodgerson is the 32-year-old, Harvard-educated mayoral contender who has been something of a toothache to a variety of city politicians in just a few years. He challenges, probes and effectuates a shadowing persona the likes of which is rarely seen in Bridgeport politics.

In just a few years he has won praise and scowls for a variety of council initiatives and suggestions, from demanding that city council members be subjected to attendance sanctions to pushing improvements to a long-suffering animal shelter to shepherding the approval of coat hooks in public bathrooms to organizing ethnic festivals on Madison Avenue, prohibiting felons from ever entering the city payroll, and railing against Patriot Act intrusions into public libraries.

As a political entity, the avant-garde musician with an urban-planning background truly is novel: a governmental newcomer who actually is intelligent. “A new era of third-party representation must come about and force the question of change,” he says.

I’ve spoken with Rodgerson a few times now, and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t enter the race. He’s quite passionate about the City of Bridgeport and his feelings about how the current crop of politicians have failed the city.

CTLP reported on a potential Rodgerson run early this month. We also have a rundown of everyone currently known to be running here.

You call this a profile? Nowhere in it does it mention whether he prefers boxers or briefs, or what his favorite boy band is.
