Simmons will run as what is best for Connecticut not what is best for the GOP or the Democrats. This was a staple of his terms in Congress and it was National Journal that dubbed Simmons as one of the most “independent” members of Congress.

Never has Simmons been one to simply toe the party line, rather he will work for us again not the special interests which is what Dodd has been doing.

Maybe it’s not as bad as I think it is, (working to put loopholes in legislation, than helping clients around them), but your side of the aisle has made a big deal about Senator Dodd’s relationships, even attacking Mrs. Dodd for hers!

So yeah, I want to know a lot more about the Day Pitney outfit, and particularly I’d like to see Sam Caligiuri’s client list. Who’s been paying him how much, to do exactly what?

That’s because it’s a terrible bill. Obama’s plans will stifle growth and kill charitable giving, and won’t stimulate anything. Dodd is all aboard the Obama Express.

How can anyone who took Lamont seriously give this guy a hard time. As the above commenter stated– he probably has more political and legal experience than Lamont. Good for him. He’s got a supporter right here!

Yes, this is very very true. For all of those who decided to throw Lieberman under the bus for not being Democrat enough even though he votes with the party more than 90% of the time it’s funny that Jonathan Pelto tries to diminish Alpert. Furthermore, Dodd is just as corrupt if not more so than his late father so it only makes sense that Dems. would want to challenge Dodd. I say the more the merrier. Dodd doesn’t own his seat, the PEOPLE of Connecticut do and he SHOULD have to defend it hard both from the Dems. and the GOP.

Me, I’ve never seen the value in heavy-handedness. Sure, it sends a “you better stay in line” message to political cronies, but to more independent-minded voters it’s a real turn-off. What’s wrong with democracy and giving voters a choice?
