Senate Minority Leader John McKinney is closing in on a long-anticipated race against Jim Himes in the 4th district. Politico reports that McKinney was spotted making the rounds with potential donors on Capitol Hill in Washington this morning.
McKinney will likely announce after the budget is set.

So… That must mean he’s planning to wait and run in 2012……..
With leadership like McKinney, who needs leadership?
Much better that he’s decided to end his career early with this fool-hardy run against Himes.
1) What was McKinney’s big accomplishment during his time in Hartford. (His proposed bill to allow the casino bars to serve 24/7 fell flat.)
2) Who will be the next Senate minority leader in McKinney’s abscence?
Don Williams
Nice one, ACR
I want to know what is going on with Larry Cafero. He’s running for something in 2010 we just don’t know what.
If the Democrats continue to cooperate as well as they have this year; Larry will be running for Speaker.
Gotta love the double standard.
What was Jimmy Himes’ big accomplishment as chairman of the Greenwich DTC?
What was Neddie Lamont’s big accomplishment as the losing candidate against Bill Nickerson?
They both made a lot of money in private business. Himes also went and ran an affordable housing nonprofit. I think working in government has really been McKinney’s only job.
Run John run.
