Dodd Raises $900k for Senate Re-Elect

by Heath · October 14th, 2009, 5:05 pm · 4 Comments

Senator Chris Dodd announced that he raised $900k for his Senate re-election campaign, according to The Hill:

Simmons announced earlier this week that he had raised $970,000 for the quarter, and Dodd just announced $900,000 raised.

Perhaps to soften the bad news, Dodd’s campaign announced details of an Oct. 23 fundraiser with President Barack Obama in the same release.

Dodd’s inferior quarter comes after his first-quarter report earned jeers for showing just five contributions from residents of Connecticut.

Mr. Dodd has approximately $2m cash on hand.

From that same The Hill story:

UPDATE: Dodd campaign manager Jay Howser says his boss missed a full month on the fundraising trail because he was recovering from surgery for early-stage prostate cancer. He also notes the lengthy health care bill markup that he says consumed much of Dodd’s time.

At this point the incumbent Dodd has twice as much cash on hand, a coming fundraiser with a very popular President, and isn’t staring down a primary in which Simmons will get hit from all sides, and outspent 5-to-1 or more.

    So whoop it up ‘wingers.

So, where did the 3m come from? Widows mites no doubt.

Dodd has Obama in his pocket for a late season appearance.

A couple Civic Center-type rallies in Hartford and Bridgeport would be just perfect for the incumbent.

Obama’s coat tails may be a liability outside of the North East and the West Coast but they are strong here.

    The news is incoming now.

According to two sources that do not usually peddle in rumor – the American Enterprise Institute
and Beliefnet blogger Aziz Poonawalla –the Ayatolla Khamenei of Iran may have assumed room temperature.

Here is the realtime search for Twitter in Iran.
