Dodd has Obama in his pocket for a late season appearance.

A couple Civic Center-type rallies in Hartford and Bridgeport would be just perfect for the incumbent.

Obama’s coat tails may be a liability outside of the North East and the West Coast but they are strong here.

UPDATE: Dodd campaign manager Jay Howser says his boss missed a full month on the fundraising trail because he was recovering from surgery for early-stage prostate cancer. He also notes the lengthy health care bill markup that he says consumed much of Dodd’s time.

At this point the incumbent Dodd has twice as much cash on hand, a coming fundraiser with a very popular President, and isn’t staring down a primary in which Simmons will get hit from all sides, and outspent 5-to-1 or more.

So whoop it up ‘wingers.
