Ghengis Conn Appreciation Night

posted on the behalf of CTBob, who has kindly done the legwork in organizing this event

In appreciation of all the superb writing and amazing work he’s done with CT Local Politics, we’re planning a little get-together for Chris Bigelow.

It’s nothing fancy, just an opportunity for us to show Genghis we all care and we’ll miss his direct involvement in the blog (and it’s a chance for you to talk him into not leaving!) Anyone who enjoy CTLP is invited; bloggers, media people, politicians, readers, plaintiffs (just kidding!), moderates, liberals, conservatives, etc.

This is a non-partisan social event, so let’s all try to leave our differences at home and simply enjoy a couple hours celebrating our common goals. At the end of the evening we’ll all join together for a rousing chorus of “We Are The World”! (not really)

Date: Wednesday, November 18th
Time: 7:00 to 9ish

Where: Eli’s On Whitney
2392 Whitney Ave
Hamden, Connecticut 06518
Phone Number: 203-287-1101
Website: http://www.elisonwhitney.com/

Simple Directions:
From North (Hartford) – Wilbur Cross Parkway to exit 61, take LEFT off ramp. About 1/4 mile (across Dixwell Ave.) Eli’s is on Left. Take a left on School Street for parking behind Eli’s.

From South (Fairfield) – Wilbur Cross Parkway to exit 61, take RIGHT off ramp. About 1/4 mile (across Dixwell Ave.) Eli’s is on Left. Take a left on School Street for parking behind Eli’s.

What: Pay as you go for food and beverages. Menu is standard American pub fare.

I’d like to get a rough head count, because if we have enough people commit we’ll possibly be able to use their private dining room. So reply to this post, or email me (CT Bob) at futuredv at yahoo dot com (does that silly anti-spam scheme really work? My spam folder says “No!”)

Hope to see you all there!

Good for you Bob. Sounds like a lot of fun, and Ghengis and CTLP deserve to be celebrated.

I have a conflict and probably won’t be able to go however… Ugh.

I plan on attending. But about this non-partisan stuff… while I think it makes sense to leave the D & R stuff at home… can I pleeeaaase bring a Ron Paul sign?! j/k.

I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for organizing it CTBob.

And Gabe… you better be there! You can’t live more than a minute from Eli’s.

  • 4 Connecticut Bob // Nov 11, 2009 at 5:10 pm ·

    Seriously!

Better yet, if Gabe doesn’t show up, we’ll just camp out on his doorstep!

hahaha… and another thought about pols attending… they actually would be wise to show up as they’d get plenty of face time with a group of activists who will probably have an unusually high level of influence on next year’s primaries for Guv (D&R) and Senate (R).

And all the area state legislators would also probably be wise to show.

GC… you’re “going-into-hibernation party” may be the 2009 political event of the year! (If the pols understand the importance of befriending CTBob!)

Quinnipiac Senate poll coming out tomorrow. FYI.

    Are the elderly invited?

  • 8 Tim White // Nov 11, 2009 at 10:02 pm ·

Come to think of it… two or three of the CDs will likely have GOP races. Those candidates should probably also attend…

and going OT… I have to give props to Senator Dodd for having the courage to tell President Obama that he is flat out wrong about the Fed as a regulator. Obama is dreadfully wrong on that one and Senator Dodd had the courage to say it… don’t get me wrong, I still disagree with Senator Dodd on banking regulation (I want to regulate via the Constitution)… but his idea of defanging the Fed as a regulator is a much better idea than Obama’s idea.

Branford Boy – we’ll put out the red carpet for you!

So who else can make it next week? Please let me know.

    CtBob,

Could you supply an e-mail? I searched in vain for one on your blog. Pretty sure I can attend. And since this may be mostly a liberal gathering, I assume lunch will either be free or charged to the nearest millionaire in attendance.

LOL! We’re all Pay as you Go on this one.

For future reference, my email is both on my right sidebar right under the “Donate” button on my blog, and also in the last paragraph of the article above. See you there!

No wonder I didn’t see it. I have an instinctive aversion to donate buttons. I’ll be bringing a keep-the-peace guide dog.
