Tonight I attended the second organizational meeting of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party. John Orman was reelected Chair, Jon Kantrowitz was unanimously elected Vice Chair, and Sue of MLN was also unanimously elected Secretary. Since the CFL Party currently has no plans to raise funds they chose not to elect a treasurer.
The party also adopted a formal platform and new rules, with the goals of keeping Senator Lieberman accountable and preventing a future takeover of the party. As soon as they appear online I’ll update this post.
In an interesting twist Stuart R. Korchin, who claims that Orman high-jacked the CFL party from him, showed up for the social hour before the meeting and debated with Orman for over twenty minutes. Korchin left before the meeting opened for business however, and did not vote on officers or the platform. Orman did nominate Korchin for the position of Party Chair but he lost 5 to 1 when both candidates were put up to a vote.
There were more honorary members present than voting members at the meeting, which made for a carnival like atmosphere. I’m not sure how seriously the Connecticut for Lieberman Party takes it’s organization, but they certainly don’t take themselves seriously. If only meetings for the Democratic Party were always this much fun.

Orman is an absolute BEAST in the low post.

Wow, what a great story… really informative post…
I’m sorry CGG, I’m just a bit cranky this morning, not trying to be rude… I guess I just think it’s more of an amusing little anecdote at this point, rather than anything very substantive… the CFL was a joke, nothing but a vehicle for the Senator’s re-election, we all know that…
BrassBoy–
We have a Party line in any election we want. That’s not a joke.
We are talking about cross-endorsing Liebercrats to remind people of their perfidy, and/or endorsing progressive challengers so they will be in a position to receive a do-over and participate in yet another Republican/Democrat/CFL general election!
Basically, this state needs a “Sore Loser” law, and we are going to do whatever is necessary to drive home that point.
well, that certainly is a novel idea, i will give you that… i can’t say that i would ever support any of the challengers recieving a “do-over” but i would have to give you an “A” for effort!
