Bristol is a Rough Place

Ah, Bristol. Home of the nomination melee of last year, in which supporters of rival state rep candidates beat the crap out of each other and injured a little old lady.

Now people are throwing bricks through the mayor’s window.

Was someone delivering a political message by hurling a brick through the mayor’s window and leaving a vulgar message on his lawn, or was it the action of somebody who dislikes him personally?

Police say that either way, the attacker could face more serious charges than simply criminal mischief. By using Mayor William Stortz’s name in an obscene message left in the middle of the night, the culprit crossed the line from pure vandalism to harassment, police said. (Stacom)

Scary stuff.

In other Bristol news, Democrat Art Ward has announced he’ll seek the mayoral nomination this year. There may be some resistance from other Democrats:

Ward, 59, said that if he doesn’t gain the party’s nomination, he will “absolutely” force a primary in September to try to win the nod from the Democratic rank-and-file.
[...]
[Ward has] been at odds with the Democratic majority nearly as often as he’s opposed Stortz.(Collins)

If I were him, I’d wear a helmet to the convention.
