**Updated**McEnroe on Krayeske

by CGG · January 30th, 2007, 8:06 pm · 28 Comments

Colin McEnroe interviewed both Ken Krayeske’s lawyer, Norm Pattis and the Hartford Chief of Police Darryl Roberts on his radio show this afternoon. The interview with Roberts is especially staggering. It left me wondering if he’d even read the arrest report.

Both are a must listen.

Why oh why have the charges not been dropped? This thing becomes more ridiculous by the day.

**Update**

A reader kindly sent me a link to pictures from this morning’s rally. You can view them here.

I’ll predict that somewhere in here is a connection between the governor’s office and the Hartford Police. It’s always the cover-up.

There are too many questions here, and not enough people in power asking questions. The majority of legislators seemed not to care about this when the chief was in front of them, and those that did didn’t ask the right questions. There should be a detailed investigation into the force, case by case, to find out if the Hartford police systematically punish those that ask for a lawyer with high bail amounts. Furthermore, when filing police reports do the police ignore eye witness testimony on a regular basis? If so, then how many people are sitting in state prison because their cases were handled by public defenders who didn’t have time to search out witnesses who wouldn’t come forward on their own for a low profile case?
Those are the real questions of the case one’s that get at possible systematic and pervasive civil rights abuses by the Hartford PD. The other questions are pertinant, such as why would the Hartford police care if one guy was protesting outside the ball? Why was his membership in the Green Party the first thing mentioned on the flyer to the cops? Why was their a flyer in the first place? But none of these questions are so fundamentally important as the first too.

I apologize for grammer mistakes and typos, forgot to proof before I posted.

I say perhaps this case should go forward, if for no other reason than to hopefully shed light upon the abuses of the Hartford PD, and to discover if these abuses are widespread. I’d hate to put Ken through this, but it may be for the greater good.

How in the hell did this clown become CHEIF of any police Dept?

Now that Kenny is going to trial his lawyer can depose all the agencies involved and surely get copies of ALL the lists.

Does Kenny also have a right to VIDEO all the depositions? I belive he should use ALL his rights in his defense.

I can hardly wait for th video.

Heard this interview on the way home. Absolutely incredible.

Yeah I’m pretty sure Colin’s on the Watch List now.

The pictures from today’s rally (at the State Supreme Court where the case is NOT taking place) show protestors holding signs quoting the First Amendment. Do the protestors think that Congress — “Congress Shall Make No Law….– is involved?

Another comment. With a chief like this, is it any wonder that the crime rate in Hartford is what it is? Why are all of our tax dollars going to support leadership like this?

conncon: the problem isn’t the law as I am sure you know; the problem is the application of the laws; it would appear that Krayeske was peacefully set on a traffic island, having already passed the HPD several times to get there albeit bicycling a little exhuberantly, and snapping pictures as Rell passed when the CSP secruity detail recognized him and sicked the HPD on him - that’s my guess anyway and it’s as goodas anyones - and the HPD has a history of being a little creative as well writing “I” in arrest waarants when they are talikng about the royal “we” so that may be what’s going on here; then there is probably some punk prosecutor that doesn’t want to hear it from Pattis for who knows what reason; we’ll probabaly never hear what’s really going on here becasue our legislators aren’t real good at asking questions but it would seem to be at first some low level zealots screwing up and then being covered by the brass - DUMB but it happens in govt and politics all the time - NIXON and Watergate for example..- and at great unnecessary cost to you and me the taxpayer.

Anyone remember the phrase ‘The fish rots from the head’? To people that ask questions like ‘How in the hell did this clown become CHIEF of any police Dept?’, perhaps the following sheds some insight:

With Chief Harnett’s resignation is effective July 13, 2006 Mayor Perez will appoint Assistant Chief Daryl Roberts to serve as Hartford’s next police chief and an architect of the city’s neighborhood policing plan.

Mayor Perez says, “This appointment is a continuation of the new direction in which we are steering the Hartford Police Department. Accountability, effective crime reduction through neighborhood policing and collaboration with the community are key values in how police the city of Hartford and Chief Roberts will uphold those values. Additionally, Chief Robert’s personal story and record of achievement in the police department is an inspiration to the youth of Hartford.”

Full disclosure, I am not yet working for anyone who will be challenging Perez in the 2007 Hartford Mayor’s race, but I’m giving free advice to anyone that will listen.
