I think that by catching Saddam, America has not gained anything significant. Did the bloodshed end ? Are the American troops really safer than they used to be ? Has the world really stood by America during Saddam trial , and , after his execution ?? I think if someone answers these questions in the affirmative, he is just doing it overruling all rationalities and logical reasoning.. just for supporting the so-called war on terror. Did terror end with SaddaM ? Absolutely NO

Is America “Safer” now because we caught Saddam?

If you answer yes you truly are beyond help.

Howard Dean was right on every major issue in 04. Being ahead of the General population was his only fault but don’t worry because in 08 the Dems will gain the Oval office and enough seats in congress to put the Republican Party back in the wilderness where they belong.

The sweetest part is that Howard Dean,as DNC Chair,will rightly get most of the credit for it.

What Keith said. Most Dems that I know aren’t committed to any one person yet. I’m paying close attention to what the candidates say and do. And I’m not counting Dodd out. In fact I really want him in my top three. But he’s got some work to do, and there’s nothing wrong with progressives being upfront about that.

Most “progressives” haven’t fallen in love with any candidate yet.A small percentage are leaning toward one candidate or another but so far this cycle there is no candidate,likeHoward Dean in the last one, who a significant percentage are backing.

Dodd still has as good a chance to take off as any of the others and if his actions match his rhetoric he may have a better chance than any in the pack.

Sen Dodd has,by his actions over his carreer and in the last year,proven he is a bigger and better human being and politician than Joe Lieberman . It’s time now for the Senator to distance himself from an old freind who has turned sour on life and on their freindship.

I can tone down that language. But I have been following along, and it doesn’t seem like the level of enthusiasm is all that high. Progressives seem more inclined to support Edwards, for reasons I can’t fathom.

This is really unfair, Genghis. Dodd has gotten plenty of love for his recent efforts from the progressive netroots. See my own comments later in that thread. See these many recent posts at MLN praising Dodd for his work in the senate and his speech at the DNC winter meeetings. Nothing but praise. See his recent interactions in chats at Firedoglake and Booman Tribune. 200+ comments in the former thread, and a few dozen comments in the altter thread. The word "Lieberman" barely appears at all. Maybe even read some of the recent posts from progressives on your own site. My post was in no way an "attack."

I think what tparty and everyone else wants is for Dodd to stop acting like he has battered wife syndrome.
Liebermans been shitting on Dodd for years. On the night of the primary Chris Dodd was knocking on Liebermans door trying to talk to him and Lieberman wouldn’t even open the f-ing door and speak to him.
Freindship is suppose to be about respect.Liebermans never shown any for Dodd.

I don’t think he has to isolate Lieberman. Lieberman already is isolated. But if Dodd is actually after Netroots support, he needs to state that he isn’t interested in Lieberman’s endorsement. It’s really that simple.

I disagree with Genghis about who gives Lieberman more power. At the moment I think Dodd is giving Lieberman more power than he actually deserves.

Slightly off topic, perhaps, but it relates to tparty’s “attack”. Do we really want Chris Dodd to isolate Lieberman and make him irrelevant? If we manage to isolate Joe from the party any more, we might see him switch. A lot of Nedheads would love to be proven right, but at what cost? A Republican majority? I think Chris Dodd is doing a great job of helping the Democrats keep their control of Congress. It’s hardly groveling for Joe’s support. Maybe it’s not quite an attack, but Genghis is correct to point out that it’s not something to criticize Dodd for.

I suggest you go back and read your own writing on Dodds candidacy is you want to see what an attack looks like.
Your original diaries when the news broke that Dodd was considering a run could have been written by Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh or even Drudge.

tparty,being overly cautious,even put a disclaimer that he had done some graphics work for Dodds campaign recently at the end of the very diary you linked to.

It’s not suprising that someone whose judgememt allowed him to vote for Rell and Schlesinger just doesn’t get it but it is suprising by just how much you don’t get it.

I really wonder if Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire feel the same way about Joe as Connecticut Democrats. Regardless of how they like Joe, Senator Dodd being a jerk to Lieberman doesn’t help anyone. The two are friends, and Dodd has been very careful not to pressure Joe into an endorsement. I’m not sure he wants Lieberman’s endorsement until a general election anyway.

So even though Dodd is an honest, intelligent, and articulate man who agrees with you on the issues, he needs to be bashing his fellow senator in order to be considered for the nomination?

If that’s the case, then it says more about the democrats than it does about Dodd.

CGG – exactly! Chris can make a significant impact with state Dems by distancing himself from Joe. Remember, 2/3 of the Dems voted for Ned Lamont, and a significant portion of the other third is becoming disillusioned by Joe’s actions since his election. Dodd has zero to gain and everything to lose by courting our junior senator. Hopefully he’ll figure that out in time.
