Mike--

Thanks for the link to the video. Watching these guys in action really shines a light.

Rep. Truglia, "Rape is horrible, but life is beautiful". That's her reasoning for being against not just abortion in the case of rape, but also being against emergency contraception.

Of course if it was her 15 year old granddaughter who got raped, do we really think she would consider a resultant pregnancy "beautiful". Nope, she as well as we would view it as "horrific", and I'm sure she'd be rushing to the hospital with a dose of Plan B!

Now listening to Rep. Bruce Morris. Wow! What a bull-shitter. Does he really think Catholics believe a raped woman shouldn't be given the means to prevent a pregnancy? Because I haven't found a single Catholic I know who believes that. (Sure, one or two are confused, and can't differentiate between Plan B and the abortion pill.)

This headliner from the Norwalk Advocate about SB 1343 is absolutley misleading as can be but I think the comments by the members of the HSC from the area as well as Cafero on the bill show less divisiveness on the issue that what we saw here on the blog.

Who the heck is Truglia representing? It sure isn't her constituents, who would overwhelmingly agree that a rape victim shouldn't have to give birth to her assailant's baby!

As a Democrat, she is pathetic. She sided with Lieberman and against the Pope with regards to the Iraq Occupation. And when it comes to basic human decency she sides with the rapist over his victim.

Shame on her. And let's hope someone comes forward to primary her in 2008.

Rep. Christel Truglia's contact info:

At the Capitol:
Legislative Office Building, Room 4030
Hartford, CT 06106-1591
(860) 240-8585
1-800-842-8267
Christel.Truglia@cga.ct.gov

In the District:
7 Gypsy Moth Landing
Stamford, CT 06902
(203) 357-7786

This "Democrat" doesn't believe rape victims should have easy access to emergency contraception in each and every CT hospital. Instead she sides with Bishop Henry Mansell, an ideologue who thinks a rape victim, if impregnated, should bear their assailant's child!

no one abstained, there were two absences - big difference. And Sen. Coleman's position on this issue is clear, but I have no idea who Rep. Burns is.
