Primary Looming in Derby

by Genghis Conn · April 13th, 2007, 1:56 pm · 3 Comments

From Connecticut’s Smallest City:

Democratic Town Chair John Orazzetti recently announced he will be running for mayor in the fall of 2007. Looks like a primary is in store with democrat Mel Thompson.

Definitely worth watching. There’s a CT Post article on this subject, too. Currently, Derby is controlled by Republicans who came to power in 2005 following disenchantment with a Democratic administration.

Mel is nuts. I doubt he’ll make it past the convention.

I wonder if the eventual winner will decide to run for statewide office some day, and if so, if they’ll be able to do as well as former Mayor Schlesinger in garnering support statewide (or even in Derby itself).
