As reported by the Connecticut Post this morning, the state of Connecticut leads in volunteerism nationwide, this according to a study intended for release today by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The study was conducted over a three year period from 2004 to 2006 for the fifty largest metropolitan areas. The Midwest had higher volunteer rates, but we were close behind.
Bridgeport ranked 14th nationally with 32.3 percent of people volunteering their time. New Haven, at 30.2 percent was ranked No. 22 and Hartford, ar 29.6 percent was No. 23. All three were above the national average.
Volunteering is always a critical piece which is needed for communities to thrive. I think the people who post on CTLP are likely to volunteer for their communities in a number of important ways, and I think it would be interesting if people used this thread to discuss the ways they volunteer for their communities, and make them better places to live, work, and raise a family.

The http://fairfield.ctlocalpolitics.net/ should be renamed all the unfair and unbalanced news the blogmaster wants to print to push the agenda of he and his cabal at the Fairfield RTC.

I am merely stating a fact about how it goes over there. The Nelson announcement is a campaign press release not a news story. Additionally, I happen to know his opponent has submitted comments more than once about the GOP caucusprocess as well as the candidate who was first in thatNelson is challenging. The comments contained no swear words (so I am told) but they were never put up.
BTW cgg, I happen to know that Flatto would much rather defend his job against John Nelson than his fellow Lehigh alum, Jim Brown. The voters at large in Fairfield prefer substance over style – and that’s not to say Brown doesn’t have style either ’cause he does. Either way Flatto is in for a good fight though because the party will unify after next Tuesday’s caucus.
