Dodd’s Healthcare Plan

by CGG · July 27th, 2007, 6:53 am · 3 Comments

Yesterday Chris Dodd unveiled a “comprehensive health care plan”. According to the campaign Dodd’s plan would:

- All Americans will have quality, affordable health coverage within four years.

- Individuals and businesses will contribute based on their ability to pay.

- Premiums will be affordable based on leveraged negotiating power, spreading risk, reduced administrative costs, and incentives for technology and preventive care.

- Coverage will be portable – insurance purchased in the Universal HealthMart will follow individuals, not jobs.

The campaign also set up a comparison chart comparing the Dodd plan to the proposals from Obama, Richardson, and Edwards. Hillary Clinton, who has not yet released a proposal, is also included on the chart.

I’m still not sure that creating a larger pool is the answer. Isn’t this just adding another layer on top of an already broken system?

Here he comes! Rocketing past my mailman, a geriatric hen, and a collie named Rupert in Democratic preference polls! He may see single digits by the end of next week!

Why not just condense the two above points into one point: from each according to his ability, for each according to his need.

    gmr,
You may be getting mixed up with Michael Moore and Dennis Kucinich’s ridiculous single-payer, socialist healthcare plan. While keeping the integrity of our capitalist system and not turning the health care industry into a government agency, Dodd’s plan seems to be a reasonable way of making sure people get the care that they need. Chris Dodd doesn’t want people to get sick, go untreated, and die. I’m sorry if that offends you.
