Excuse me but why is Alan Keyes not listed?
http://www.renewamerica.us/
Oh yeah, he did announce, didn’t he. Ha! I should have remembered him. I did include Mike Gravel, after all.
Alan Keyes? Really?
Are you THAT disgruntled?!
Wow, you lumped them altogether. Anyway, thanks!
It’ll be interesting to see if anyone thinks good ol’ Fred would make a great President. Somehow I doubt it.

LOL, nope. I didn’t say I was voting for him, just that he announced. I did find large amounts of humor watching him answer mail on his TV show back in the day. He was quite humorous…
Alright, I think we all know who voted for Ron Paul but who’s the clown who voted for Dennis Kucinich?
Great Englehart cartoon from today’s Hartford Courant.

Dude–
Tell me again about how you are really a Democrat…
Cheney should be on the list – love him or hate him, he is right on the money here:

He leaves out a few things. For instance, Pres. Bush had plenty of chances to enforce fiscal discipline on Congress from 2001-2007 with his veto pen, and did not take any of them. Cheney talks a good game about Social Security, but apart from an anemic private accounts plan Bush’s government has done little to right that ship.
Fred Thompson isn’t doing so hot in this poll. Interesting.
Bush did limit the growth of SS in 2006 and did shrink the growth lately – unfortunately he didn’t do enough. Sadly, the Dem. Congress is even worse at this point!
Disgruntled… are you talking about me?? lol.
Actually, Ron Paul has gotten a few votes so far. And he does have real, if limited, support in CT. Dr. No even had a writeup in Wesleyan’s weekly… there was a Ron Paul for President contingent on the Wesleyan campus this past Sunday… trying to build support for his campaign.
Actually, the only presidential lawn signs I have seen in Connecticut are Ron Paul’s. Saw another one down in Niantic last weekend.

People entertain his candidacy because of his supposed electability. Beyond that? Bleh…

It certainly doesn’t help that he brags about being lazy. He’s like Wesley Clark in 2004… the rest of the candidates were lousy, he had some promise, but he got in too late and wasn’t a very good candidate. Iowa and New Hampshire just don’t fall for the candidates who think running for president is glamorous. They respect the ones who work for their vote.
I’m really surprised that Rudy is beating Romney in this poll, too. Romney’s a proven executive and Rudy’s a proven jerk. I think he’d be a thoroughly disliked one-term president.
Gosh Tancredo got a vote!?
Okay…who let the Klan in here…
The only ones that have any executive or managerial experience are Guliani (Mayor), Romney (Governor, CEO), Richardson (DoE Head, Governor), Huckabee (Governor) and Gravel (Governor).
The rest of them are legislators, and haven’t been the top decision maker of an organization. Legislators, especially Senators, make bad candidates. Hillary sort of gets a pass here, because she was politically famous before she became a Senator. (I presume she won’t come out and say she voted for something before she voted against it). I don’t think that being a legislator necessarily makes a bad president, but it does make a bad candidate.
Dodd and Thompson both married young, got divorced, and then after some time married much younger women and now have toddlers although they are both in their 60s. Dodd, 63, has a 2 year old daughter; Thompson, 65, has a son whom I guess is about 2 years old as well. Dennis Kucinich also divorced his first wife (and his second wife) and now has a much younger wife (30 years old, while he’s 60), but not kids from this wife yet…
Dodd and Romney’s wives are members of the Mormon Church (each one of these gentleman has only one wife each…).
Another interesting fact: Here are the candidates that speak a foreign language:
Dodd: fluent in Spanish (Peace Corps)
Romney: fluent in French (Mormon Missionary)
Gravel: fluent in French (Canadian variety)
Huckabee: can read ancient Greek (is an ordained minister)
Obama: fluent in Indonesian
Richardson: fluent in Spanish and French
So why the heck is Alan Keyes running? What does he hope to accomplish? He lost to Barack Obama by what, 43 points or something? Who gives this guy money? Are the people that give money to Alan Keyes really not too versed in financial matters? How’d they get money in the first place if this is the type of decision they make?
So who’s your candidate, GMR?
So who’s your candidate, GMR?
Well, there’s no secret I’m a Republican.
I don’t really have a favorite in this race yet, but I’m probably leaning towards Romney. However, Romney has seemed to tell people more what they want to hear based on the circumstances. But he’s had a great career so far: the SLC Olympics, Bain Consulting, Bain Capital, and the Governor of Massachusetts. There are probably problems with the Mass health care initiative, but he did try something, and much of what he did there was simply common sense that should have been done a while ago (for instance, one component of his plan was to make sure that the state got the federal funds it and its citizens were entitled to). As a venture capitalist who funded some of the country’s very successful businesses, he understands what businesses require to be successful, and would presumably use this knowledge when working with the legislature on various bills….
NYC improved immensely under Guliani, but he seems a bit authoritarian in some aspects. I really don’t care about his previous marriage record like many seem to: that’s not an issue for me.
Fred Thompson: I just can’t seem to get excited by this guy. He talks a pretty good game I guess, but it seems like he’s not really done all that much. He was a Senator for 8 years, but in that time, I can’t really figure out what he did. He didn’t become a Chairman of any committee, didn’t sponsor any major legislation. Now, sure, first term Senators aren’t Chairmen, but then this guy didn’t run again… (He was in for 8 years because he got elected to fill in for someone else).
McCain: He seems to have dropped off a cliff.
The rest: I can’t really spend much time giving these other guys much attention. I couldn’t even identify Duncan Hunter in a police lineup. Tancredo seems to be a single issue candidate. Ron Paul seems to take a lot of weird positions that bloggers advocate but the rest of the country seems puzzled by, like the gold standard. I’m not really sure why Brownback is running.
As far as the Dems go, I guess if I were a Dem, I’d be wary of Obama’s inexperience. Richardson looks great on paper (Governor, hispanic, tax cuts, foreign policy experience), but then on TV (Meet the Press) he looked completely terrible. Edwards seems ridiculous with that two Americas schtick but then having the $400 haircuts and 28,000 square foot house (the $400 haircut was not his fault, but it shows that his campaign staff is totally off the ball for allowing that to ever show up as an item on a campaign spending report instead of Edwards just paying it himself). And then Edwards’s wife made that weird comment about not eating fruit or vegetables from out of state. That’s going to go over like a lead balloon… Hillary of course has a large negative rating that will be difficult to overcome in the general, but not impossible.
Hey, can we at least be honest about the size of Edwards house? (Not that Republicans care about things like facts and honesty.)
The house itself is about 9,000 sqft. Not that outrageous for a highly successful lawyer. Attached to the house is a 20,000 sqft barn/gym that includes a basketball court, swimming pool etc.
You want to beat a guy up for having his own sports facility on his gentleman’s farm, go right ahead. But at least be honest about it.
Sounds like a pretty humble man. Of the two Americas, I guess he’s part of the poor one …
LMAO! gmr, you’re quite the windbag! It only took me three lines to see that the rest of your post wasn’t worth reading!
It’s good to see Ron Paul doing as well as he should be doing. A real American patriot stepping up for the people.
