The WFP picked up two seats on Hartford’s city council. They now have more members on the council than the Republicans. Real Hartford also points out that Eddie Perez only got 49% of the vote.
Just across the border in Springfield, Domenic Sarno beat octogenarian mayor Charlie Ryan.
Late results in from Berlin. Dems win.
See which seats changed hands in this excellent piece by MikeCT over at MLN.
And, in non-election news, there’s a Quinnipiac Poll out this morning. Gov. Rell’s approval is a mind-boggling 77%, and there’s a lot of interesting stuff about people’s perceptions of crime in the wake of the Cheshire home invasion.
You can still go vote for CTLP!
What else is happening?

Wesleyan Democrats worked hard and got a large turnout. Student Matthew Lesser won an alternate’s seat on Planning and Zoning. The Democrats retained control of the Common Council; apparently Giuliano, who ran unopposed, has no coat-tails More here.
MikeCT article at MLN is factually incorrect, the First Selectman’s race in Branford was not held by a Republican. In fact the 1st Select(wo)man’s seat was held by Democrat Cheryl Morris (a puppet of former state party chairman Edward Marcus).
Once again, I suppose one shouldn’t be surprised by the lack of any fact check prior to throwing such misinformation out as fact. Caught ya’!

From Mike’s post:

Sometimes a mistake is just a mistake. Particularly when dealing with election results.

But bob from branford caught him!
I just notice your website was linked on dennis house’s blogs
http://www.wfsb.com/getinthehouse/index.html
Gabe, heard you talk about Milford yesterday on the radio. How did that one turn out?
Republican collapse in Middletown. Wesleyan student gets more votes than Mayor Giuliano. More here.
Not as well as North Haven, Hamden, Simsbury, Branford, or East Haven – you know, the other cities and towns that I talked about yesterday on the radio. What, did you listen for 28 seconds and block the rest out?
Thanks for listening though!
Bob,
Rats, my vast misinformational conspiracy has been foiled again! And I would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for you meddling kids. Made a couple of other updates, too.
steadyjohn,
If only the Dems could have been bothered to nominate someone for Mayor!
Well… I have been voting for your Blog everyday that I have had a chance to get by that site. Looks like my five votes aren’t going to help you keep up to RCP. But I still think it is pretty cool that your Blog made the cut and onto the actual vote to begin with.
I guess the public likes government by press release. The immature tactics taken by some of the DEM leadership certainly doesn’t hurt her cause either. Of course, Ms. Rell has a great lightning rod to take all the heat, her Chief of Staff. If anything is bad, it is Lisa Moody’s fault and Rell is blameless. She has the best of both worlds. She can take credit for all the good and the bad is all Ms. Moody’s fault. However, government by press release will eventually collapse. Will it last until 2010??
Mike-
“mistake” or just a lack of information that you use to prop up you already inflated ego as a political insider. The fact is that you mis-spoke (define: speaking of issues as if they are fact without checking the validity of the same). Sorry to burst the bubble; perhaps next time you should be more careful.
Wow. What’s with you?

Yeah, Mike, he caught you! You must be perfect, at all times, because bob from branford is watching…
Anyone have information (or speculation??) as to why the Democrats did not run a candidate for Mayor in Middletown?

Just a shot in the dark – but it did keep GOP turnout down a little and I doubt the incumbant was going to loose.
Did Keeley ever endorse Finch, or is he still sticking with Caruso?
