Wow, you all have some real class. Didn't your mothers teach you any sort of kindness or respect?

Perez did not get the majority of the vote. There have been reports of questionable antics by poll workers. Even more, if you took a look at the city council race, there were people who got huge vote counts in areas of the city where they have not done any campaigning. This is what should be up for discussion.

But here, on a site where one would expect some intelligent dialog, all I'm seeing is a lot of sarcasm and the airing of several individuals' superiority complexes.

Good question, Toucan.
They'll get around to that after they wrap up the subprime problem.

The First Ammendmenat is certainly a question here but the other question is if the RC schools in Milford are getting capitol improvement funds then why aren't all of the other RC Schools around the state getting funds to make capitol improvements as well - BTW, I know the answer to that one!.

I'm Catholic but I wonder about the First Amendment question. Is anyone aware of other state grants for infrastructure at religious schools?

House Speaker James A. Amann will announce this afternoon a state grant to be shared by the city’s three Catholic elementary schools.
The grant will be used for building improvements at St. Ann’s, St. Mary’s and St. Gabriel’s schools, said Amann, a Milford legislator..

Perez's third term to me feels very similar to the beginning of Rowland's third term. One got the feeling that one way or the other, Rowland wasn't going to make it through all four years and it appears that Perez is on a similar path. Count me surprised if he's in office by 2011.

WASHINGTON — The House, joined by Rep. Christopher Shays, has passed a $50 billion bill to pay for the Iraq war while setting a goal of bringing most troops home by December 2008.
------
Shays, R-4, called it a "reasonable time line for drawdown of troops in Iraq" that is similar to one he proposed this year.

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said Wednesday that Bush would veto the bill should it come to his desk.

Huh? You mean there's election laws in Hartford?

That place is a toilet. They deserve to get what they voted in.

But in some ways, the state is still experiencing fallout from abolishing parole in 1981
--------
"Letting someone out the front door or the front gates on the very last day of incarceration is nowhere near as good as transitioning the person back into the community, which has a much higher success rate," said DOC spokesman Brian Garnett.
