Sullivan Campaign Misses Filing Deadline

The FEC is not happy with Sean Sullivan’s campaign.

According to this document the Sullivan campaign failed to file their pre-convention report, which should have covered the period from April 1-April 20th. Sullivan will be nominated at the 2nd District convention on May 10th. There is a possibility that they could wind up with some fines.

I contacted the Sullivan campaign about this and they said the missed deadline was due to a clerical error. Andrew Powaleny, Communications Director for Sullivan for Congress, had this to say: “Our campaign will be reporting the financial information that is needed to report to the Federal Election Committee as soon as possible. This may be slightly after the due date of May 2, 2008 and our campaign is working as quickly as possible to render this issue fixed. It is our campaigns full intention to comply with all FEC regulations and guidelines but due to the heavy amount of time that it takes to present these reports we will file slightly late with the commission.”

This means that they will almost certainly face some sort of fine.

You can see the DCCC response here, in a Courant story.
