Boaz ItsHaky, a Bethany Republican (and longtime CTLP/elsewhere in the CT blogosphere commenter), is the surprise nominee of the Republican Party to run against Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D) in the 3rd District.
I say ’surprise’ because it seems that no one had any idea who the nominee would be, even hours before the convention.
He ran as an independent for Bethany’s first selectman post back in 2005 (a race that was among the first I blogged about), and ran an unsuccessful bid against State Sen. Joseph Crisco in 2006.
I personally have always enjoyed Mr. ItsHaky’s comments and his love of poetry, which depressingly few other people on this site seem to share.
So congratulations to him on his nomination!
The 3rd District was overwhelmingly carried by Rep. DeLauro in 2006.
