So says CT News Junkie. I think this quote from John McKinney sums the matter up perfectly:
“If we’re not willing to take a vote today on the unclaimed bottle deposits, then I don’t know how we’re going make the tough choices that we’re going to have to make in the next two years,” Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, R-[Fairfield], said.
Absolutely right. Chris Caruso is saying this will come back–and it should.
In other special session news, the work program created for unemployed former members of Congress might be about to come to an end, as Rob Simmons’s job as state busines advocate could be on the chopping block.
Check out the new CT House Rules (the House GOP’s site), which has a lot of new and interesting features on it. Of note is the Twitter feed they’re running, which is keeping tabs on what’s happening in the session today.
Of note: Democrats killed this bill. ALL 44 REPUBLICANS were reportedly for it, according to Larry Cafero. Sullivan & LeShane wins again!

Don’t you believe it. If there were an up or down floor vote on taking the unclaimed bottle deposits, plenty of R’s would reveal themselves to be in Sullivan & LeShane’s pocket. It’s easy to be for it when you don’t actually have to cast a vote and when “it” makes the other side look bad.
But yeah, the 60 or so Democrats who were too afraid of Pat Sullivan (and the Teamsters) deserve the bulk of the blame here.
