Jodi Rell and the Missing Email

State Democratic Party chair Nancy DiNardo asks an important question: why, exactly, was Lisa Moody’s caustic reply to state budget director Robert Genuario not in the original stack released to the Courant?
The rest of what DiNardo has to say is the usual raft of complaints about “Governor Moody” that’s been going around for years. All [...]

The Buck Doesn’t Stop Here
August 9th, 2009 · 71 Comments
–By Ned Lamont
There must be a plaque on Governor Rell’s desk which reads, “The buck doesn’t stop here.”
Her recent op-ed piece in Sunday’s Hartford Courant was a classic example of blame-shifting for the state’s ongoing budget crisis. Crying, “the legislature made me do it,” is a thin excuse for someone who has held the [...]

From the Courant:
Rell’s spokesman, though, responded Wednesday night that the Democratic plan is balanced partially with “accounting gimmicks” and proposals for savings that may never be realized.
“There’s an abundance of chicanery in this budget,” said Christopher Cooper. “The Democrats have spent the last 84 days claiming they were looking for ways to balance the budget. [...]

Governor’s Bills Die in Committee
March 31st, 2009 · 6 Comments
The Government Administration and Elections committee yesterday killed several of the governor’s proposals, including her plan to consolidate several state agencies, and a proposal that would have reduced the amount of money participants in public campaign financing would receive.
This, of course, is the usual pattern. The governor will make a lot of noise about new [...]

Deficit Cutting Plan Passes – UPDATED

There should be a vote tonight on the latest deficit mitigation plan, which Democrats say will cut $1.2 billion from this year’s budget.

Turfgrrl uncovers some evidence that a recently canceled committee is basically nonexistent. There is, in fact, very little information out there about the Advisory Commission on American and Francophone Cultural Affairs, despite the fact that it seems to have been formed at some point by Gov.
