Assembly Districts 9 & 11

Posted in State Elections, General at 8:06 am by Ladyx

As you know the incumbents (Stone & Christ) for Assembly Districts 9 & 11 are not seeking reelection and that leaves the field wide open.  There has been some speculation as to who would run and this morning according to the Courant, we have some answers.

Tonight is the Republican convention for the 9th district where at least three candidates from Manchester hope to gain the nomination.  They are: Cliff Thompson, Michael Crockett and Dennis Brenner.  This coming Tuesday the Democrats will hold their convention and the hopefuls are: Joseph Hachey and Jason Rojas.

The 11th district has only one candidate so far: former East Hartford Mayor, Tim Larsen (D).

Cliff Thompson won the 9th though Crockett may force a primary and the 11th has no candidate.

The Republican 3rd senatorial doesn’t have a candidate either.

It occurs to me that the East Hartford Republican’s have missed an opportunity. No candidate in the 9th from EH? That’s a shame. The three Manchester Republican’s will split the Manchester primary vote, so an East Hartford Republican would walk away with the nomination. It’s a swing district, but will stay with the Democrats because the East Hartford Republican’s don’t have any benchstrength.

No candidate in the 1st only invites Sue Kniep to enter the race as either a Republican or an Independent and use the three months until November to further her Taxpayer Group’s agenda while beating the stuffing out of the local Republican Party.

Oh how I wish for a two party system in East Hartford.
