Hello Bistro 942
February 3, 2008 on 10:33 am | In Hartford, food | No CommentsThe Euro Cafe (wedged between Dunkin Donuts and City Steam Brewery) closed in January. My first reaction was basically surprise that they had been open as long as they were. Their food was excellent, but their pricing a bit steep and their service was terrible. I’m going to qualify all of that. They did reach out to the college by offering discounts to students and faculty/staff, but that was not enough to make it affordable to many of the students. The poison of choice for CCC students is Dunkin Donuts, and you’ve gotta be real convincing to break them of that addiction.
If the owners were in, the service was great. They would make sure that the customers were happy, and they wouldn’t treat you weird for asking for that discount. Continue reading Hello Bistro 942…
A City Without Food
August 16, 2007 on 8:34 am | In Urban Renewal, food | 1 CommentBliss Market will not be moving into downtown afterall.
Where will all of the hip new downtown residents be able to do their grocery shopping, you ask? Well, where they’ve been able to do so for a few years now– Rose Gourmet, a small shop on Pratt that is stocked with everything from organic snacks to fruit to soap.
And pray tell, where is this store in relation to Hartford 21, where Bliss Market was intended to go? Pratt Street is just across the street from the Civic Center. The H21 plan to put some grocery store of their own inside their building anyway.
